Courses & Programmes

We offer CBET-accredited courses examined by TVET CDACC, KNEC and NITA, including Electrical Engineering (Power Option), Building & Construction Technology, Automotive Engineering, ICT, Plumbing, Fashion Design & Garment Making, Hairdressing & Beauty Therapy, Agriculture, Food & Beverage / Hospitality, and Business Management. Artisan, Certificate and Diploma levels are all available.

CBET stands for Competency-Based Education and Training. It focuses on practical, hands-on skills — roughly 70% practical and 30% theory. CDACC (TVET Curriculum Development, Assessment and Certification Council) is the body that assesses trainees and awards certificates for CBET programmes. Most of our programmes at Nuu TVC are now CBET-based for better relevance to the job market.

Yes. Our learning pathways are progressive — you can start at Artisan level, progress to Certificate, then Diploma, then Higher Diploma, and thereafter join university with credit transfer. Your skills journey can begin at any level.

Yes. We run short courses lasting one week to three months in Computer Packages, Electrical Installation, Motor Vehicle Mechanics, Welding & Fabrication, Plumbing, Masonry, Fashion Design, Hairdressing, and Catering. You receive a college certificate upon completion.

Admissions & Applying

Artisan: KCPE or KCSE grade D- and below.
Certificate: KCSE grade D Plain and above.
Diploma: KCSE grade C- and above.
Short Courses: Open to all — we consider every qualified applicant from Kitui and across Kenya.

We have three intakes every year: January, May, and September. In addition, short courses in Computer Packages, Tailoring, Electrical Installation, Welding and Hairdressing are available monthly.

Fees & Funding

Yes. Nuu Technical and Vocational College is a public TVET institution under the Ministry of Education. Our KUCCPS-placed students receive Government Capitation (Ksh 30,000 per year) and are eligible for HELB loans and bursaries of up to Ksh 40,000. Self-sponsored students can also apply for HELB.

Annual fees are approximately Ksh 67,189 for all major courses, with government scholarships and HELB loans awarded yearly to eligible students. Fees can also be paid in installments. Contact / WhatsApp +254758001730 for the current fee structure.

Accreditation & Recognition

Yes. Nuu Technical and Vocational College is fully registered and licensed by TVETA (the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority), and all our courses are accredited by TVET CDACC.

Industrial Attachment

Yes. Every Certificate and Diploma student undergoes a compulsory 3-month industrial attachment. The college has linkages with industries, garages, construction sites, salons and county offices in Mwingi, Kitui and beyond to place our trainees.

Campus Life & Facilities

We do not currently have on-campus hostels, but we assist students to find safe rentals around Nuu Market — within walking distance of the college.

We have modern workshops for Engineering, an ICT lab with internet access, a library, an agriculture demonstration farm, and qualified trainers. Located at Nuu Market, the college is easily accessible from Mwingi Town.

Yes. Students participate in Football, Volleyball, Drama & Music Festivals, Christian Union, Muslim Association, Environmental Club, and the Entrepreneurship Club (linked to KCB 2Jiajiri and Uwezo Fund).
